What A Weekend

There were a lot of interesting things that happened this weekend.

Friday Night,
First, as soon as I got off of work, the wife and I went to get her phone looked at. I think she has a bad battery, but the store we took it too didn't have the proper tools to diagnose it. So just before we left the store, we got a call from my mom saying she was close to where we were and if we wanted to go to dinner. By this time it was around 8 at night when we finally set our minds on a nice in-town BBQ place. I nearly ate one whole rack of Ribs. They were GOOD!!! My mother, during dinner, said that her co-worker, who's been married for less than three months, thinks that being married is the best thing in the world. My wife, I have to love her, said, "Wait until you're married for longer than a year." I just turned my head and looked at her. She continued to eat as if nothing had happenned when she finally looked at me and realized what she had said. My mom was busting up laughing and I couldn't help but laugh also. After that, we went to Sam's Club. I saw this book that I, for one reason or another, couldn't resist buying. "Generation Kill" was only $10 so I picked it up without a second thought. Can't wait to read that one.

Saturday,
I went with my wife to get the oil in her car changed. My mother, who was looking for a new car anyway, accompanied us and ended up purchasing a brand new Honda Accord. But the issue was that we went to the dealership at 11 am and didnt leave until 3 pm. It wasn't long until 6:30 pm hit and we had to go to a play Les Misérables performed by the Christian Youth Theater (CYT). Three of the youth from my youth group were performing and my mother, my wife and I appluaded everything that was done. THEY WERE AWESOME. It was almost as good as a broadway musical. My wife caught the ire of one of the actresses when she said she didn't really understand anything that was happening. I laughed at how angry the actress got.

Sunday,
We went to Church (I don't normally talk about church, but will becasue...) and found out that my pastor's father was near death (he infact pasted away at 1 am this morning). After that, the wife and I went to see WALL-E. It was a GREAT movie. Not much on the human plot, but the robots stole the show! Then we came home and watched movies all night. Busy to say the least.

What's Up With Being Sarcastic

I don't know what it is, but whenever I put the words Sarcastic Gamer on a post, I get at least one comment telling me how much they suck. WTF?!?!?! Get over it!

Why are you killing me Twitter! I like talking to my friends. I wouldn't mind it if they had advertising if it kept the service up!

Bad Company or Bad Disc

Here is an interesting article from Sarcastic Gamer. Are you having the same problem. Let them know by leaving a comment.

Episode 7 Topic List

In Episode 7, two guest hosts (One Geezer and one Celebrity Guest Host) and myself talk about several things:

Atari threating to sue websites that gave their game an unfavorable review.
Battlefield Bad Company and how Sarcastic Gamer helped stop them from charging for weapons.
Battlefield Bad Company satire video's.
What we expected from the Big 3 at E3.
Interview this week was with a Walrus P****.

We tried to stay on topic, but weren't always successfull. Coming in at around 1 hour and 14 minutes. I would also like to say that the Celebrity Guest Host completely blew myself and my fellow Geezer out of the water with all his awesome talking. I welcome him back at any time and I hope you all enjoy the show.

What's In A Name

I am going to go ahead and float my boat here a little. Because of an earlier post, Lono from the Sarcastic Gamer website mentioned my blog and my GamerTag on their podcast. Although he did it with the best intention, and I should have seen this coming, he completely murdered my GamerTag on the show. He called me JediCrick. I applaud him for giving me a shout-out, but since I didn't know he was going to do this, I never had a chance to let him know the proper pronunciation of my GamerTag. It turns out that half of my friends on XBL didn't even know how to pronounce my GT until I started doing the podcast. So here it is...for EVERYONE.

Jedi Chric is pronounced Jedi Sheer-ick.

Oh, and Episode 7 will be taped tonight. I will be having a guest co-host that's not SparkStalker and a "Special" guest-host that you will know of if you visit my blog on a regular basis.

Bad, Bad World Company

Has anyone seen the new trailers for Battlefield: Bad Company? THEY ARE FREAKIN FUNNY!!!! I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the Rainbow Sprinkles video and the Bad World one isn't that bad either. Here they are in all their glory!

"Bad World"

"Rainbow Sprinkles"

Let me know what you think of them. Are they funny?

Unmentionable!

The wife is so special. We divided the chores because of how sick she had been and I volunteered (by volunteered I mean she told me) to put away the laundry. Before I could reach the laundry, she looked me in the eyes and said, “Do you know how to put away the laundry?” I just looked at her and tried not to laugh. I grabbed the laundry basket and headed up-stairs. I immediately put away my things. Very easy to take care of for me. I have one drawer for underwear, one for socks, two for shirts and one for knit shorts and long pajama pants. It doesn’t take me more than a minute to finish. Then I look at her things (most of the basket) and sort them out. First shirts, then pants, unmentionables, socks and misc. items. I go to her drawer and open it up. I see that there are shirts and blouses are in there, so I throw in the shirts and close the drawer. I open up the drawer right next to it and it’s filled with unmentionables. Okay...so I close it and open up the drawer right below it and what do I find...more unmentionables!!! So I think I got them all sorted out and go down stairs thinking that my job is done. My lovely wife thinks it would be cute to check my work and decides to come upstairs. She laughed and said that the drawer I put her shirts in was an unmentionable drawer... HOW MANY UNMENTIONABLE DRAWERS DOES SHE HAVE?? I couldn’t believe it!

14,000!!!

I got one of the easiest Achievements last night and the most ironic thing about it was that one achievement pushed me to my current Gamerscore of 14,000. What achievement, you ask. Well, in Rainbow Six: Vegas (the original), you can get 30 gamerscore for making a custom face creation using the XBL Vision Camera (one of it's few uses) and that put me to 14,000. I'm so BAD!!! :~P

Got Radio?

I was able to get Episode 6 of Geezer Radio done last night. Here are the topics that we (my unknown co-host) covered:

Team Ninja Defections
Microsoft Avatars
Will Metal Gear Solid 4 and Bluray push sales of the PS3
Playstation Network updates for the XMB and Trophies
Mobile Gaming for MS?
Interview from a fellow Geezer at the M&G

This Episode is only 1 hour and 3 minutes so it is a little shorter than the previous one. I want all feedback! Thanks! :~)

Just To Let You Know

Episode 6 will be taping tonight. A fellow Geezer will be co-hosting but he isn't in the SE (GG South East). Who is it? Are you interested? Are you ready?

Sony has finially realized that gamers love to show off their accomplishments. As an Xbox Gamer since 2004, and a Xbox 360 owner since launch in 2005, I have had a GamerCard that is also on this Blog. The Official Playstation Blog has announced that Trophies will be added to the PSN for us to show how great we did in a certain game. It's ABOUT TIME!!! Now all they need to do is push out Home, their version of GamerCards and some good games and XBL needs to watch out.

What's Wrong With Pizza

This weekend has been an unusual one. When I arrived at my G-Maw-In-Law’s beach house, the first thing she said to me, “Can you please fix my laptop?” (Please see post on Monday June 9, 2008 – What Do I Look Like?) So, I connected to her internet service (she pay’s $60 a month for “high” speed wi-fi from BU&U, but she’s getting ripped off if you ask me, it’s worse than dial-up) and tried to download the updates to her computer. It couldn’t be done. It was so slow that it was counter-productive and I asked her, “Does this have to be done or recommended to be done?” She replied recommended and then I said, “Then it won’t be done. It’s too much work for too little gain.” She seemed fine with that, but I can hear her again asking for help in the future. The rest of the night and Saturday was fine until around six pm.
I was told that we would be having crabs for dinner (not crab dip or crab salad, fresh crab from the bay). I liked it okay, and Bab’s (G-Maw-In-Law) knew that I didn’t like to pick crabs, but I did for a couple. If you have ever eaten crabs before, you would know that you can pick and eat all day and not satisfy your hunger. When I got in the house, I asked my wife “What do I get for dinner?” Bab’s and my wife both looked at me like I had worms crawling out of my ears. Finally, after my wife and I discussed things for a little while, we agreed to go out for pizza. That was a mistake. Not because I wanted pizza, or the pizza was bad. In fact, the pizza was AWESOME (pineapple, pepperoni and sausage)!!! The mistake was that because we went out for pizza, everyone on the island knew about it, and that’s all we heard the next day. “You two went of for Pizza last night?” EVERYONE asked that one question. WHAT WAS THE BIG DEAL????? I was hungry and I wanted something that Bab’s didn’t have on hand. It was like I was committing a crime.
Anyway, the rest of the trip was good up until 11 pm. I had just finished watching a good Will Smith movie and the wife had fallen asleep. When she got up, she threw this hissy fit about me not ever going to be earlier. In all honesty, my wife is not a morning person or someone who wakes up and is particularly polite when she wakes up from a nap. Fortunately, this didn’t lead into a fight and she apologized quickly.

I plan on recording Episode 6 of Geezer Radio tomorrow night with a special guest host. Talk to you later.

Cold in Here

I think I have a slight head cold. Will update tomorrow with some funny stories from over the weekend...if I feel better.

3/4 Ring of Fire!

My wife was trying to be a Guitar Hero on the Xbox 360 (a replacement for my launch console that RROD'd) last night. She was playing a good song, it was a song that I really enjoyed to listened, but won't download. Anyway, she was half way through the song when it froze in mid-song. It froze so bad that it was stuck on one note and all you could hear was this horrifically bad sound that was half way between a music note and a car horn. She was pushing every button on the guitar but it would budge. I looked at her and said, "Honey, it's frozen. I'll reboot it." Well I walked over to the box and hit the button. After it had shutdown, I hit the button again, and I got the dreaded RED RINGS OF DEATH!!! OMG!!! My wife had never gone through that before. The last time it had happened to an Xbox of mine was before we got married and she wasnt living with me at that time. So, I told her there was good news and bad news (I tend to do that all the time because I like to hype either good or bad news depending on what I tell her). The bad news (which she always ask for first) it's dead. The good news the three year warranty doesn't expire until November of 2008 (I hope). I forgot to bring my info with me today, so I'll have to wait until next week to call M$ for a coffin.

I still have my Elite at home, so when WALL-E comes out, she can play it on that. I might think about renting MGS4 while she's playing her game so that I can have some fun on the PS3.

Sarcastic Podcasts

I have known about Sarcastic Gamer for quite a while, and even used one of their songs in Episode 4. I do have to say, though that they are some of the funniest guys on the internet. Another thing that is so cool about them, is that they are very easy to reach and talk to. Please visit their site, it's a great site and they are one great bunch of guys.

Escape Pod has been going downhill recently. I don't know what it is, but the stories just aren't as good as they had been in the past. I still continue to listen to it, but it's on the hit list if it doesn't get much better.

I'm wondering what I will be listening too a couple of months from now. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to listen too?

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Well?

I don't have anything to say today. I love my wife, my job, and GeezerGamers, oh and Xbox 360.

How did you enjoy the latest podcast?

Changes

I did a very odd thing last night. I was playing Rainbow Six: Vegas last night and played until 11:30. My loving, wonderful, and beautiful wife didn't even bother to tell me that she was going to bed. As soon as I logged off, I turned off my laptop, went downstairs to put my laptop bag next to my phone and noticed that my wife wasn't there. She had already gone to bed!!! I rolled my eyes and walked up the stairs kind of in shock at that fact. When I went to brush my teeth, I took a look at my beard (mustache and goatee) and didn't like how long it was. I reached for my trimmer only to find it dead...even plugged in. I was then forced to do the unthinkable...I completely shaved off my mustache and goatee. It's going to take some getting used to because I have had it for almost a year. The wife is really happy, but I told her that I reserve the right to grow it back. Anyway, I am beardless...and as of writing this, I like it...but don't tell the wife.

Also, Episode 5 should be up sometime today. I hope it is anyway.

What Do I Look Like?

I was sitting at home eating dinner last night and about to enjoy a good movie. I had just shoved a piece of chicken into my mouth when my wife's phone rang, not mine, but my wife's (this is important for a reason that will soon be evident). After my wife get's through the greeting and then she says, "Yeah, he's right here." When someone calls on her phone and wants to talk to me, that means one thing. In-Laws!!! I grab the phone and before I can get off a hello, my GrandMa-in-Law says, "Hey I have this computer issue." I then realize it's going to be a long call.
Basically, this is what she said: An BU&U wireless rep tried to install a wireless card on my laptop. He then said that he couldnt do it all the way because it had to be updated. Can you do that for me?
What updates? Which ones? The Microsoft Updates or the BU&U Updates? What am I, tech support? She didnt have any answer but this one. "I don't know, the guy just told me to download the updates and everything would be okay." WELL THAT DOESNT WORK FOR ME!!!
I told her to download them from her wireless card and then to install them if she can find them (which means that I will be installing them when I go to her beach house). I don't mind helping people out with their computers, but when I am sitting at home and someone tells me to fix the issue and all they tell me is some VERY vague answer, I can get a little perterbed. Actually, what I mean is annoyed to hell!

Episode 5 Is In The Books

Last night, Spark and I recorded Episode 5 of Geezer Radio. It is 1 hour and 39 minutes long. I know that is a lot of time to dedicate to one podcast but we did decide to throw in an interview from a Founding Geezer.

The topics discussed where:
Gears of War 2 Update...always...
Guitar Hero, Rock Bank, Rock Revolution Games
Gaming news headlines
OCD Mojo's Top 10 List on Geezer Gamers
The Xbox 720 Wish List
Quick Explination of Interview Problems
Interview with...

I hope you enjoy this one and Spark and I will try not to be as long winded going forward.

Ouch!

I was stood up last night an not in a good way. I was supposed to have the Podcast last night and 9:00 I waited and waited for 30 minutes and Spark never showed up online. I felt so...used. The funny thing is that I thought those feelings would end when I graduated from high school. You can't imagine how many times I waited for a date to pick me up in my nice dress only to have them not show up...hey wait that was my sister. I never got stood up in high school, but I do know what that felt like. Anyway, I had that feeling last night. And for some strange reason, I am willing to put myself through that again...for tonight. So hopefully we can get the fabled Episode 5 done tonight.

Last Night Was Fun...But Not In A Good Way

Last night I had every intention of doing Episode 5 of Geezer Radio...but then life intervened. As soon as my wife got home, I had to take her to the pharmacy. She had stubbed her toe on Monday and yesterday it was still swollen and purple. I decided to take her to the local pharmacy to let the pharmacy tech take a look at it. Normally they aren't doctors qualified to look at things like that, but they do have a basic knowledge of medicine and how to treat things. He didn't look at her toe but game me some very helpful hints and ways to treat her (I think broken) toe. So, I'm in the process of taking her home (the pharmacist said taking her to the doctors office or emergency room was pointless because the toe that was injured was too small for them to do anything for) when my mother called. I told her about JedisPadme(her XBL gamertag)'s condition and she insisted upon seeing it. So I drove to her house and had my mother take a look at it, and she agreed that the doctor would do no good.

So, the wife and I went to a local gas station to get dinner (yes, I know. But it was Wawa's which is like a mini-grocery store that sells gas and hot fresh cooked sandwiches) when I got another call from my mother. She couldnt get the TV to work. I'm looking at the tool kit in my car wishing I could hurl it at my mother's old TV, break it and tell her to buy a new one. Her TV is 10+ years old and very limited on what it can do. So, I walk her through the usual steps on how to get the TV signal back on it after she unplugs it from the wall because of a lightning storm, but that doesn't work. I sigh heavily into the phone and say, "Hold on, we'll come back over and fix it for you." At this point it's 7:30 and I have no clue (but I thought I did) about how easy this was going to be fixed. I called Spark and told him everything that was going on and said that it was possible to be home in time to get the Podcast done, but wasn't sure and he told me that he was very busy yesterday also, so we cancelled the podcast for last night and re-re-scheduled for tonight.

When I got to my mother's house, I looked at the TV, opened up the panel and hit the ^ Channel button and it was fixed. The whole thing took less than a minute after I looked at the TV. I looked at my mother and then at the TV and then back to my mother and then to my wife and I said, "Let's go home." I finally got back home around 8 pm and was just too tired to call Spark and get the Podcast done.

So, long story short (too late) I aim for tonight as when the podcast will get done.

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

Tonight Should Be Fun

I think I have Episode 5 of Geezer Radio. The only thing is that it will be over Skype. Although, that's not a big issue, it's never been done before. I would like to assume that it will go easy and be just like normal, but it will be different without someone sitting right next to me so I can tell him quietly that I want to interrupt. The best news, though, for doing it over Skype is that we have nothing planned out as a skit like we did for the Achievement Unlocked segment in Episode 4. So, we'll see how tonight goes.

Also, I think my wife broke her toe yesterday. Tonight, while not doing the Podcast, I will be taking care of her.

WHY? Just Tell Me Why?

I am having such a hard time figuring out why I am feeling like crap on Monday's all of a sudden. It may have something to do with the fact that my wife (I love her so much) wanted to take a nap yesterday after a long day at the Capital. I hate taking naps on Sunday because they have the chance of screwing up my sleep the next night. Well, guess what...I couldn't go to sleep last night. I wonder why?

Anyway, here is another thing that is truely ticking me off. I can't get Episode 5 of Geezer Radio done because no one is willing to co-host it. MrParadox wants to co-host a show, but tonight isn't convienent for him. Spark doesn't want to do it because he want's someone else to be the co-host for once. Jeeps can't do it because he's working and I want him to co-host a special episode coming up. My words can not explain the frustration I am feeling right now.
