I Got Punished for Someone's Joke

Here is a funny story. I was sitting at my G-Maw-in-law's (Babs) house with my G-dad-in-law (J.W.) their neighbor and my wife. Babs was talking about a flounder that she had caught. Babs looked at JW and then at her neighbor and said, "I don't know why we couldn't have kept it." J.W. said it wasnt the legal limit to keep. Babs said it had to be at least 19 inches, which just so happens to be the legal limit. J.W. held his two index fingers five to six inches apart and said "If I have you convinced that this is 19 inches then I've been doing great!" I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Babs looked at J.W. and then at me and slapped me. What did I do?

Finally Back to Normal

I am finally caught up on sleep and feeling a lot better than I have over the past two days. I may have had a slight cold because I was tired, grumpy and annoyed at EVERYTHING!! And I mean everything. I litterally slammed the ice trays on the sink several times because I was pissed that I couldn't get out a piece of ice. I was upset over freaking ICE TRAYS!!! Anyway.

I am trying to get Trixie on the Podcast, but my chances are probabily as good as having Major Nelson on the podcast...wait...sorry. Bad example.

Geezer Radio Explination

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the status of Geezer Radio. I have been wanting to get a new eposide done before Memorial Day weekend, but that didn't happen. The main reason for this was that SparkStalker is in the middle of a Sex Re-Assignment Surgery and he...I mean she needs time for things to heal...Just kidding. Spark is sick and has been sick since the Meet and Greet earlier this month. I would like something to get done this weekend, but can't guarantee anything. If nothing is done this weekend, I will move ahead with a guest host so that everyone won't be kept in the dark with what is happening around GeezerGamers.com. I hope to give you an update on this soon.

Highlights from the Weekend

I am way too dazed and confused to in any way shape or form tell you fully about this past weekend, so I'll just give you the highlights.

- Beat GHIII on easy
- Tried GHIII on medium and failed
- Got sunburnt on my needs really bad
- Continue to think that my GrandMother in law doesnt like me (I could say why, but then my wife would say I'm reading too much into the situation)
- Surrounded by women for most of the weekend (2 15-year-olds, 1 53-year-old, 1 24-year-old, 1 72-year-old) and I loved it!
- Bought the wife a new phone a Maroon ENV2 from Verizon
- Watched National Treasure 1 & 2 on Bluray
- Ate Belguim waffles on Saturday morning
- Ate waffles Sunday night at Waffle House
- Slept in Sunday and Monday

I am a Guitar Hero

I entered into my first game of Online Co-Op for Guitar Hero last night and I think I did a great job. KOKitten, who was the first guest on Geezer Radio was my co-op partner. We did a great job with several songs. We hit 496 consecutive notes on one song and 485 on another. It was awesome. The one thing, though, that I nned to remember, is that I am not actually a guitar hero, I'm just some poor guy who thinks he is.

On another note, no pun intended, the SkypeCast went really well. McJeepers and MrParadox joined me for some light-hearted discussion. I did find out a couple of things about SkypeCasts. 1. They are basically glorified conference calls on Skype. 2. You do need Skype installed on your PC (it's a free download and free call to other Skype users). 3. A conference call method might actually be a better route to take, but SkypeCasts are a little more organized. I look forward to the next one where the discussion will be about 10 features every Xbox game should have. I hope to see you there.

Don't Compliment the Wife!

Okay, I was talking with my wife last night getting ready for bed. I looked at her and asked "Are you loosing weight?" She looked at me and said, "Awh, thanks honey. That's the best compliment that I've heard in a long time." I was brushing my teeth at the time, so I said to her "Saying that your beautiful isn't a compliment?" She said, very casually like, "No, not from you." You should have seen how fast my face turned towards her. I think toothpaste spat out onto the wall when I looked at her and said "What?" She then realized what she said, and then went into panic mode. So, for the next half-hour I stood there with my arms crossed listening to her try to explain what she meant. After that, I casually walked to my bed and got in. She quickly jumped into bed and started pleading with me not to be mad at her and that she was sorry. I simply said, "I'm not mad. I'm just surprised that you said that." She then said, "Well, what I meant was...was...SH*T!!! I f*cked up!" At that, I burst out laughing and couldn't stop for the next twenty minutes. IT WAS AN AWESOME NIGHT!!!!

I love my wife and I think she is the most beautiful creature God has ever made. I am very fortunate to be married to someone so beautiful and funny.

Busy Work or Busy at Work

This job can be a nightmare at sometimes. We just went through a server move and one of our Servers died on us completely. Of course, we don't have a back-up server, and that means trouble with a CAPITAL T. When will we get the back-up in? I don't know. How much damage has this done to us, A LOT! Will they order back-up servers before the original crashes going foward? I doubt it... Finding it hard just to take a lunch break.

Anyway. I continue to fantasize about going home to play GHIII and to a lesser extent GHII. I love the game play. I even got a second guitar and game for the wife so we can play in two seperate rooms at the same time. I wonder if GTA IV or RS:V will get much play in the next couple of weeks?

Co-Oping with the Wife

The wife and I played Guitar Hero III last night and we both LOVED IT. It wasn't even a discussion when she said that she wanted her own guitar and game! She did a good job and so did I, considering that this was only the second time ever that I played the game. I downloaded the No Doubt Tack Pack and played them on Easy and did AWESOME! It was an odd feeling though. The three songs in that pack were Excuse Me Mr., Don't Speak, and Sunday Morning. I have listened to those songs 1 million times each and they are three of my favorite all time songs by No Doubt, so when I was playing them, and I missed a note, it was like slapping my mother. It was so important to hit all the notes, and when I missed a note I really was upset. But I got through them with high a score for each and was proud. I also did some of the campaign on Easy and did well. I managed to get an achievement (100 note hit streak on Alice Cooper's School's Out). My wife unlocked an achievement for getting 97% of the song done before failing (she's a wonderful wife to unlock achievements for me). Anyway, I had a great time, my wife had a great time, and later that night...we both had a great time... :~p

Creativity and System Restores

I have decided to run a SkypeCast for Geezer Radio. I will announce the time and place on GeezerGamers.com/GeezerCasts/SkypeCast thread. Please watch for updates. I would like this to be a success and something that the community would like.

This weekend was dominated by work. I was at work for 5 1/2 half hours on Saturday: 9AM through 2:30PM. And on Sunday, I was at work 10 1/2 hours on Sunday: 1PM through 11:30PM. It was an interesting day/night.

I can't wait to get home tonight and get some sleep and play Guitar Hero for the first time.

Just wanted to lay down some quick things.

1. I have moved all of my Boss bashing to a new blog. Will tell you when the time is right.
2. Sorry to all my readers who can't understand my incoherient babbeling(sp?). When I write things sometimes, it doesn't always translate well when I type it all out. For those of you interested in the Large Hadron Collider, here is a link to the Wikipedia article.
3. I am feeling very creative. The last time I have felt this creative, a Podcast called Geezer Radio was made. What I would like to do wiull be announced on GeezerGamers.com under the GeezerCasts forum section. I'll update it here with a link to the Posts when I an ready to announce it.

The End Is Nigh

Flan, my co-worker and I were discussing topics about the office and he alluded me to a fact that I had heard of, but never really paid much attention too. The Large Hadron Collider will be started sometime this year and some are predicting that the end of the world will end when the particles actually do colide (sp?), although the chance of that is very slim (a 1 in 50,000,000 chance). Other theories that people have about the effects of what happens are: a mini-black whole will be sucked to the center of the Earth and start to devour our planet (after the Sun blows up and fries the Earth), they create "strangelets" that are near to anti-mater (which when it touches real mater will turn the entire Earth into a giant fireball (heance our death), we learn more about the creation of the galaxy and life goes on as we know it (most likely possiblity). The good news about the second possible scenerio is that it will take 1/10 of a mili-second to destroy the Earth, so we won't even know it happens. After talking to him, I said, "It makes me wonder why I have a 401k." Then he said, "Those Aliens watching us will be laughing at us."

On other End of the World news, I am starting to get really annoyed at GTA IV. Right now, I'm just trying to kill pidgions and progress the story a little. I find myself quickly moving back to older games like RS:V, and Guitar Hero.

Episode 4 Is Now Up

Episode 4 was recorded last night. I am listening to it right now to make sure it's up to our standards...not that they are high or anything...

I would like to go on a rant that I couldnt get into the podcast.

I don't care if you don't like a system (Xbox 360 or PS3) but give me a reason other than you hate Sony or Microsoft (i.e. PS3 stinks because of the lack of good games or lack of good online play). I am SO tired of the fanboy telling me that I'm wrong because their system is better, when they have never tried the systems that I use. Example: I was in Lynchburg, Va on Saturday, when I walked into a GameStop. The two people working there did nothing but BASH the 360 in favor of the PS3. Everything about the 360 sucked: Gears, BioShock, the hardware. Everything about the PS3 rocked: the hardware, Haze, and Killzone. I asked them why they didn't like the 360, and they said it sucked because it was made by Microsoft and that they had never owned a M$ product. What horsecrap!

2nd Post Today

I just wanted to let all my Geezer friends know of two things.
1. I am trimming down my Friends List. I have 100 on my list and I need to create room. These are the ones that I cut. I'm sorry.

2. Due to too many games to play, I have designated certain games for certain days. Mondays are Guitar Hero days. Wednesday's are GTA IV days. Thursday's are Rainbow Six: Vegas days. Once I complete a game, the days will them be rotated. Until then, that's what I will be playing.

Computer Arena Review

When I think of traveling out of town (as I did on the first weekend in May) to have a LAN party, there is now one gold standard that I need to live by.

Having only been to two GGSE Meet and Greets, I don’t have as much to complain about but I hear the stories all the time. One year it was a hotel that promised to have enough juice to support 20+ LAN gamers. When they blew the hotel’s circuit in less than ten minutes they weren’t too happy. The next year (my first to attend) we rented out a room at a Go-Kart racing place, and had the same thing happen. This year, on the other hand, we went to a place called Computer Arena, and had no problems what-so-ever. Spark and I were shocked to say the least.

Computer Arena started off being built from the ground up as a gaming facility. When you first walk through the door, turn to your right and they have the Computer Repair and Sales area. They employ a computer technician that can look into and fix just about any issue. Also, they offer a FREE PC heck-up. They can also custom build you a high-end gaming PC’s to in-expensive PC’s to surf the web or sophisticated business machines. They also offer in-store and on-site service.

Once you pass that and go down that hall, the next thing you see is the computer training room. That was the area that we rented out for our LAN party. They had five rows of computers with six computers on each row. That is enough to accommodate a full high-school class of students looking to learn a new program or get some experience with document and spreadsheet applications. To the right of that, is the Good Time Café where you will find some of the best food I have ever had at an arcade like facility. The Meatball sub was the best. Their smoothies are also to die-for. They also offered such things as alcoholic beverages (no liquor) along side of energy drinks and soft drinks. Their menu for both food and beverages is diverse and worth the friendly pricing.

On the opposite side of the Good Time Café is the pentacle of the Computer Arena. Rows and rows of top of the line computers, each one with a monitor, keyboard and mouse. These PC’s can handle just about any game out there and is meant already setup for online gaming. I saw everything from arcade games to COD4 being played on the dozens of computers available. It really is a geek’s dream place to be. In a very long room beyond that, they had a stage setup just for the Rock Band game. After that there are stations for Guitar Hero III for both the PS2, and Xbox 360.

I also noticed that there were cubicles with two large TV’s back to back with each other and four theater type seats on each side. When I asked about those he said that those were where the Xbox 360’s could set up for 4-player split screen and LAN gaming. I asked him to explain further about that and he explained that he had 16 Xbox 360’s each with their own GamerTag and gold account so that people could log onto live and play ranked matches. He also has a Wii, GameCube, Original Xbox, PS2 and Dance, Dance Revolution stations to play your favorite game.

There were two noticeable missing components. That was the lack of PS3 support and no usable WiFi. When I asked Britt about that he stated that there wasn’t enough interest or games to justify a PS3. Please don’t ask me what he said about the lack of WiFi.

Now that I gave you the layout, let me talk about our experience. It was nothing short of amazing. The entire clan had no problem what-so-ever hooking up, powering up, and turning on our systems. It was just plug and play. Not once did we have any issue with blown circuit’s or connectivity issues. Hooking into Xbox Live was also a non-issue. It was a simple plug it in and power it up! Spark and I later talked about this and he said that this was the easiest time setting up that we as a clan has ever had. The food and Rock Band stage were also top notch. Not once did I hear someone complain about the facility. The owner and his wife (who worked the Good Time Café) were very accessible and easy to talk too.

In looking back at my experience and the time GGSE had at the Computer Arena, I would have to say that the Computer Arena gets the JediChric Seal of Approval. I can't say enough good things about this place and I can without a doubt recommend Computer Arena to my friends at GeezerGamers.com.

Okay, so it's just good for me, and to tell you the truth, it's not all that much of an accomplishment. I got an e-mail from Webshots today saying that I had 1,110 new views of my pictures this week! Whoever is viewing them, THANKS! (I suspect that it's a lot of you GGSE boys...and girls.)

Just For Fun

Last night I decided that I am way too busy and that my life is a never-ending circle of extremely busy and then nothing to do when at home. It never seems like I have a decent balance in life.

For instance, prior to Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 came out, I was bored out of my mind with nothing to play on the 360. Since then, it seems like I have too much to play. Rainbow Six: Vegas, GTA IV, Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero III are all on my list of things I want to play, but I don’t have enough time to do it in. This past week has been an example of too much to do and not enough time. Monday, I was convinced by my wife to catch up on my DVRed shows (including Battlestar Galactica). Tuesday, I had someone look at our house at 6:15, so we had to be out of there at 5:45. Then I had a meeting at church at 7 that lasted until 9. By that time, I was too tired to get upstairs and make sweet love to my 360. Then, yesterday, to top everything else off, I decided (more like my computer) that, just for fun, it was time to reformat the hard drive of my semi-new laptop and then reload everything. That took the better part of 4 hours to do. By the time I finished it was bedtime.

Tonight should be a better night for some 360 hotness...if I even get to my man cave.

Back From Atl

I did make it back from Atlanta and I HAD A AWESOME TIME! I will leave all the details for the Podcast Recap of the Meet and Greet. Thanks to MadFurther and MyTZus and a couple of others for making it. Now, Spark and I did manage to get a review of GTA IV recorded and I hope to have that up by Wednesday. Right now, though, I am SO busy at work fixing things that I don't have long to post. So, I'll see you around.

Off the Air

This will probably be my last post until I get back from the M&G. I hope that everyone has fun chillin' and avoiding the po-po. Post to you on Monday...if not sooner.

I also need to vent about my boss. I always have a feeling that she is giving me the extra workload just because others are 'temporarly busy'. Yesterday, she gave me this new thing to do in the mornings and had Flan explain to me how to do it. Now the process takes a whole minute and a half to do, and he already knows how to do it, so why give it to me? If it only takes him a minute and a half and he already knows how to do it, why did she give it to me to learn from new? Anyway, she does strange things like that.
