SkypeCastSuck

I held the skypecast last night and it was not a complete failure, but it sure did measure up to something that resembled suckage. Furgus bailed at the last minute, Mojo didn't want to install Skype on his computer, Spark couldn't make it, Major Nelson couldn't make it, Lono was probably doing the Humpday Update for Sarcastic Gamer that is normally on Wednesday, and Slinger was probably playing Halo3...(rolling eyes).

So in the end it turned out to be just McJeepers and myself. We didn't really talk about anything in depth, but we did touch up on a lot of things that had to do with Fable 2, the galaxy far, far away that is Star Wars, and Don Mattrick of Microsoft. And of course there can't possibly be an episode without bashing the PS3 and the PSN...since when did I become a PS3 H8er? Then to end off the podcast, I play a clip of JameyT on the radio show, Pwned Radio.

I nearly have that project complete, and I am itching to tell everyone! Well, I'm going to post this and then listen to the SkypeCast from last night and look into getting posted.

Geezer Radio NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!

I think that I've come to the conclusion that Geezer Radio and I need a website that I personally can manage. One that I will be able to use for more that just the podcasts. What do you guys think? I know that I've asked you questions in the past, and I almost never get a response, but please if you see this, please let me know what you would like to see in a Geezer Radio Blog/Podcast site.

Jane Wells + CNBC’s Funny Business = Moronic Reporter

Before you read any further read this.

Now, here are the problems that I have with this article.
1. The very first words in her articles, in fact, the first paragraph of the article says for us to forget about the numbers that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo rely on. What moron tells you to forget the numbers that drives an industry? When they look at ratings, should I say, forget about Neilson, your show is the most popular. Would the big studio executives listen to JUST ME instead of Neilson ratings? No, that NEVER EVER, EVER happens!
2. She stated that her son watches G4, “participates in chat rooms about them on the Internet, he competes in a variety of games on a variety of platforms.” And knows the latest trend three months in advance. Let me ask her this: Did he NOT know of Bluray on the PS3 prior to Sony’s press conference at E3 2008? If not, then he must have been living on Venus or he has some sort of mental retardation. I’ve known that the Sony PlayStation 3 had a Bluray player in 2005...because I watch G4 and they had several FUNNY commercials since 2006 that showed the difference between the PS3 and the “other” consoles.
3. He even watched Microsoft’s Press Conference and said that he was excited about the Netflix Streaming and he STILL traded in his 360. Guess what Young Mr. Wells, to stream Netflix movies on your TV, now you have to pay $100 for a Roku Box that will NOT play games.
4. Young Mr. Wells was actually surprised that he was being sold a USED copy of the game from GameStop. Then he had the stupidity of asking “How can the game already be used?” Any moron (except this one, apparently) who has EVER been to a GameStop store (or any major game store retailer for that matter) before knows that the day after a major release of a game, there is ALWAYS a used copy. Why? Because some people buy it, open it; and either hate the game, don’t like it, beat it in one day or in the case of Metal Gear Solid 4, they probably tried to play the online portion and gave up on it.
5. No GameStop employee would tell a patron of their store that “PlayStation players are ninjas!” At least not where I am and not where ReaperGrrl (fellow Geezer) lives. Can anyone ever recall a GameStop employee ever calling PS gamers Ninja’s? What does that mean anyway? That only PlayStation gamers take care of their games. Or are they saying that every PlayStation gamer is the most disciplined gamer in the world? I’m not getting it.

At least she got right the fact that since he wasn’t 17, he couldn’t have bought Metal Gear Solid 4 by himself and had to get his mother to do it for him. But on that note, since she’s main-stream media, has she not heard of Jack Thompson and his fight to keep M-Rated titles out of the hands of minors?

In order for me to believe this story I have to say the following: My opinion is that her 16-year-old-son is actually either a 12-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy with slight mental retardation, or she made the whole story up or embellished some of it to make for a good story. After reading this story I can’t help but shake my head and wonder HOW the mainstream media actually get’s it about video games. Will the PS3 win the console war? Maybe, but it’s not resting on the shoulders of a “16-year-old boy”.

THOSE Magazines

I was listening to a segment on the radio called the Man Segment and it reminded me of something that happened early in my relationship with my wife. We were thinking of getting married and talking about regularly. We were in (at that time) my bedroom and talking about how things would change. She stated something about how she felt kind of uncomfortable about having “those” types of magazines in the house and pointed to my closet. I looked at her with a puzzled look and said, “What’s wrong with those?” She said, “Nothing that I care about, but my dad might not like them.” I looked at her with this face of astonishment and said, “What does he have against those magazines?” She then looked at me and said, “He’s very religious and he might not like them.” I then asked her, “What kind of magazines do you think those are?” She looked at me and said, “Honey, I think its okay if you have Playboy, but my dad might not like it.” I was FLOORED! I then started laughing hysterically. She didn’t get it right away so I said, “Those are GAME magazines!” (GameInformer, OXM and Xbox Nation) We didn’t stop laughing for a good hour. The rest of the week I would go around the house and point at things like soap and toothbrushes and ask her if those were okay.

Bringing Down The House

So, last night was fun. The wife and I, along with my mother, sister and her husband, my wife’s mother, sister and grandmother all went to P.F. Changs for dinner for my wife’s birthday. We had a blast. My wife opened several gifts, each one that she liked. She opened a gift from my mother and set the tissue paper down...but she forgot to look at where she set it down and it ended up on top of a candle. The end result was basically a small fire, in which my mother, also known as StoneHands, took the flaming tissue paper in her hands and crumpled it so that it extinguished the flame. It was nearly the highlight of dinner. After that dinner was dull in comparison, but at least we didn’t burn down the restaurant. Following dinner we walked around the mall, and it was an expensive mall. One store had purses and I had to drag my wife away from that store, and the sales lady was looking at us and laughing the whole time. I then saw this store that had a lot of potential and went in alone. It was called Game Workshop and when I went in I realized that it wasn’t for video games, but instead for turn based games. It had several guys playing Warhammer4000. I’ve never played that game, but it looked neat. After that, we went home and the wife and I had a nice restful night...until...

Birthday

Today is the wife's Birthday. Don't tell her, but I sent a dozen roses to her office. I hope she likes them!
