Dear Jane Letter

A while ago, I went off on a tear and called a couple of people a moron for their actions. First it was Jane Wells for printing something on her blog about how the PS3 would win the console war just because her son wanted one. Then I called her son a moron for actually trading it in and his reaction at GameStop. Well, I was wrong to do that and in doing so, I proved that I, myself am the moron. I hope that Mrs. Wells and her son can forgive me for my rudeness.

But I do want to defend myself. The reason for my angst is that for every disaster in which one person kills someone else, a video game is usually blamed. Video games in this decade are the rock and roll of the fifties and sixties. Never mind that it’s considered by some people (including myself) as a form or art. Never mind that the average age of a video gamer is 35 years-old (according to the ESA), when the uninformed media says its for only sex and violence obsessed teenagers. Never mind that some game sales are more than that of a movie (i.e. Halo 3, again according to the ESA). The uninformed media is the group that is responsible for spreading the miss-information about video games, and it has to stop.

Now, Ms. Wells’ report is definitely not as bad as Fox News’ coverage on Mass Effect, but it still goes to show you that sometimes, a good story meant to warm the hearts can in fact anger the masses.

Can't Wait

I have a very special Geezer Radio coming up tonight. I hope it goes well.

I do have a funny story to share with you today. Two nights ago, it was 4 in the morning and I was fast asleep. I wish I could say that I was dreaming that I was Hugh Hefner and had three girlfriends, but the truth was that I was dreaming about being on an air-craft carrier with jell-o for planes (it makes no sense, but do they ever?)...Anyway, I was dreaming away when a hand shook my shoulder. "Honey, I can't find the covers." I don't know if I was at a good karmic center or what, but I, without complaining, walked around the bed.

Eventually, I found it on the floor next to my wife's side (she must have kicked it off in the middle of the night) on the floor. I picked it up and placed it back on the bed and she muttered "Thanks...". By the time I got back to my side of the bed and comfortably in the bed, my wife was back to being asleep and she had the covers wrapped up around her. I tried to get some of those covers, but she had her iron grip on it and I wasn't going to struggle too much because I just wanted to get back to sleep. Well, in the morning, I was freezing but didn't say anything...until last night. My wife, of course, had no memory of the event...does anyone else have this problem?

Whoring My Way To 15,000

Last night, I achievement whored my way to 15,010 GamerScore. Yes, I know what I did was sleezy, but I liked it. I used my mad gaming skills to get 910 points out of the possible 1000 points, and that along with 100 points from Golf: Tee It Up (including the Hole In One achievement) put me up to 15,010 total gamerscore. Do I feel sleezy, no. Do I feel like I actually achieved something? Yes, because I could have just played the story line and received 320 points like my wife, but instead, I went the extra mile and got it!

Next Week & A Couple Other Things

I just wanted to warn everyone one that next Saturday (8/16 - 8/23) I will be out of contact and out of town. I might get some internet connectivity, but I make no guarantees.

Also, Geezer Radio will be taped this Wednesday and I have scheduled a MAJOR interview (not going to tell you who it is, though). Spark and I will also be talking about...well, you'll just have to listen in to find out.

I wanted to tell you a funny story of my wife and what she used to think of me playing with other women over Xbox Live, but I don't think it would be a good thing for me to do. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll have more to talk about.

My Pink Halo Armor

One of the more amusing gaming moments in my life was my initiation into the GGSE. For it, I had play a game of Halo 2: King of the Hill. In that game, each new member of the clan would spawn in pink armor armed only with a SMG and a pistol. The Overlords and Staff Members would spawn with Rocket Launchers. The whole point was for a noob to control the hill for any amount of time, while the Overlords and Staff Members would pound the crap out of us...it was FUN!!!

Well, last night, I got my own REAL pink Halo armor. My wife, I love her so much, decided to wash a red towel (that had never been washed before) with one of my all-time favorite white Halo t-shirts. This was actually a collectors t-shirt that was sold to support Hurricane Katrina victims (you might remember the shirt, it had Master Chief on the front kicking a flood parasite and it said "FIGHT THE FLOOD" on the front and on the back it said "Halo Fans for Hurricane Relief 2005"). Well, now, it's my pink Halo collectors t-shirt and I have my very own pink armor to wear to the next battle.

JediChric Hearts JedisPadme

I just wanted to let you all know this important piece of information. My wife constantly places a comment on my blog. Her real name will not be stated on this blog, but as I refer to her in the podcast and her XBL Gamertag is JedisPadme. To me, JedisPadme is the same as me saying honey, or sweetie or E****. I know that some of you know this, but I felt it would be good for the others looking at my blog to know that too. Also, I put her gamercard on this site, right below my gamercard, just so new vistors know that when viewing my site. Did you know that she is also on GeezerGamers? She's not a big contributor to the site (in fact, only two known posts from her exist), but she does often visit the site to see what I said about her.

I hope you enjoy. If you have any issues subscribing to the new feed, please let me know, but right now, I'll give you some tips. First there is a clicky at the bottom of the first page that says "Subscribe to: Posts (Atom)". Click that and then look to the right. If you are using iTunes, just click on the "Add to iTunes" link and you are done. If you are using a Zune and the Zune software, go to the Podcast tab on the Zune Software and then on the left click "Add a Podcast" and type in the following: http://feeds.feedburner.com/GeezerGamerCast and you should be done.

I would like to thank Mudhog who helped with the podcast at first and gave me and Spark a template to use as the basis for the new site.

Spark and I added some new things. One new thing is a new poll question that can be voted on by anyone visiting the site. Another new thing is a link to the main Geezer site and links too some of our friends. Let me know if you have any other questions. The episodes are also now named with quirky hints at what the episode is about.

That side project that I have been working is complete. It's all set up, and ready to be rolled out. There is one last thing that needs to be done and if I can't get it done tonight, then I will just go ahead and annouce it. Can you feel the excitement? This Is Not The Post You Were Looking For

Well, I’m done!!!! I have just completed two VERY big projects in my life. One of them was a personal goal, and the second was something that I was working on for the community of Geezer Gamers. I’m not ready to release the details on the community project for a certain reason, but as soon as I can, you will be the first to know. As for the personal project, I just finished a nine (9) book series of Star Wars books: The Legacy of the Force series and it was a really good series. As for what I’ll do now, well, I guess I’ll just have to fall back on the hobbies of video games and football.

As for the SkypeCast from Wednesday, I had every intention of listening to it yesterday, but I got SOOOO busy at work that I wasn’t able to hear it all. Not only that something odd happened and I saved it in stereo, so I’ll have to fix that before I get it posted. But it is coming down the pipe. Thanks for the patience.
