One of my co-workers is given a lot of grief because his wife won't allow him to buy from 5 Guys Burgers and Fries because it is too expensive. Another of my co-workers won't get an XBL 12 Month Gold card because it's too expensive. In today's economy, I can sort of understand that, but is that the real reason?
No, I think the real reason is that their wives control the spending around the house. I personally think that those who control the finances in the household, controls the household.
And before you ask, I control the finances at my house.

You are right about the "controling" but that is a terrible way to have a relationship, IMO. And with those examples your buddies have bigger problems at home than buying a $5 hamburger.
ReplyDeleteAll our money is pooled, and each one of us has been the bigger "breadwinner" at different times for these almost 19 years. It is all "ours", and our purchases are equal. Meaning Morgan's $40K Viper purchase was the same as my $10K Harley purchase.
Morgan wants no part of the finances (she says that why she married an accountant), but I giver her an update every couple of weeks so she knows what is going on in the bank accounts, because I don't want her in the dark about what we have going on.
