I don’t understand why everyone hates Avatar’s on the Xbox 360? I have heard that a lot of people don’t like them. I just can’t understand why. I love my avatar, and I think Microsoft was genius in doing this, because now (and this does apply to 90% of the friends on my friends list) I can see a digital representation of who they are in real life. I also have a chance to show people what I look like. I just don’t get why people do not like the avatar features on the dashboard. I want to know what you think.
I still think they're the Xbox's version of the Mii, which is why I call it a "Xii". (It's also shorter to type, and doesn't evoke memories of a certain "free 1000 gamerscore for pressing B" game. :D)
ReplyDeleteI didn't think much of it going into it, but after spending 20 minutes or so creating my little mini-me, I got attached to the guy. I actually found myself disappointed when I created him and started going through the new dashboard, and I didn't see him. For all the talk of these avatar things, they only appear in one place on the dashboard: My Xbox. And you only see your friends' Xiis on the Friends channel. :(
I like the concept of building this "online identity", and creating a "person" to go with the gamercard seems like a natural extension of it. I just wish there was more to them than a single point of view on the dashboard and a small smattering of XBLA games. (Although they're brand new; I'm sure more will come with time.)
I haven't given up my "BugBash" gamerpic, though. ;)
I LOVE MY AVATAR!!!!
